A deck crane operator moves loads on board a ship and to and from the ship. The operator must work safely, responsibly and efficiently, and must be able to clearly communicate with his colleagues who rig and supervise the loads. The deck crane operator is familiar with the safety aspects for lifting equipment and the rigging of loads. He is also involved in the daily maintenance of the offshore installation. All these aspects are dealt with during the Pedestal deck crane operator course.

Result
Step 1: Basic training
The student concludes the basic training with a theory and practical test. If this assessment is positive, the student will receive the Provisional Certificate of Expertise and Registration - Crane Operator.

Step 2: Offshore practical experience
At the end of the course you must use the crane for 40 hours under the supervision of a certified crane operator. These hours must be registered. The assignments in the practical assignment book must also be completed during the 40 operating hours with sufficient results.

Step 3: exam
After this period the student can request an exam at SOMA Training. This exam takes place at the offshore location. All practical skills are tested during the exam, including loading and unloading a supply boat. If the student passes the exam and receives the Certificate of expertise and registration - Crane operator Offshore floating - phase 3. This certificate of expertise and registration has a validity period of 4 years. To be eligible for the refresher course, the employee must make 10 operating hours with the crane per year. These hours are accepted to be signed by the manager.
